We're looking for first person takes on health and wellness, and we're especially interested to hear from people who might not consider themselves experts in this space, but who are experts in their own lived experiences (which... presumably each of us is).

We have an expansive definition of “health and wellness,” as evidenced by some examples of topics that we’ve covered (or hope to): meat eating, ADHD diagnoses, the hell of caregiving in the US medical system, energy drinks, the importance of hobbies, plastic surgery, porn, dumb phones, divorce, brain health and aging, death doulas, solo parenting, AI therapy... so, uh, yeah, "traditional" yoga-headstand-on-a-surfboard wellness vibes is not what gets us going. (Though... damn if you can do that headstand that's awesome.)

So... if you’ve got a take on a topic having to do with the having of a body, it might turn out that you are, indeed, a perfect person to pitch us!

Here are a few more guidelines to keep in mind:

  • Essay word count target is 600-1000 words
  • Other formats (comics, photo essays, dialogue) also welcome
  • First person is key, and humor helps
  • This is paid (duh).
  • Your pitch should include your take (i.e. why I think the whole protein craze is dumb or why I think talk therapy is a sham), your personal connection to the pitch, any source material if relevant (i.e. research or articles), and a writing sample.
  • Pitches can be emailed to: hello@yourprism.com

Thanks, and we look forward to hearing from you!

How to human in the modern age.
